Why it’s ImportantWhile most financial and legal advisors are qualified, some may have hidden motives. Protect yourself. H.E.L.P. created the Ask First! form. Use this tool up front to get an advisor’s credentials and fee structure in writing. If they hesitate, consider it a warning sign.
Why it MattersFor more than 20 years, Financial and Estate Literacy has helped people learn without product sales pressure.
Learn MoreWill I run out of money?
Are all my beneficiaries and charitable contributions up to date on my accounts?
Is my investment portfolio properly allocated?
Who will make medical decisions for me if I cannot speak for myself?
If I were to pass away unexpectedly, would my kids be taken care of?
I would like to let you know that you are doing an excellent job explaining everything in this class. I am in exactly the position you described yesterday about being a POA and living far away. As POA to my parents, I have had to quit my job, lose my benefits, leave my family and move here to California so that I can assist my parents since my Dad had a stroke. Thank goodness my circumstances are that I can do this for my parents, but most people could not.
Since I retired, I have learned so much from attending It’s Your Estate / It’s Your Money workshops that I tell everyone about them. Very empowering! The nice thing about the workshop is that they are given at multiple locations so that you can attend the two series simultaneously, and if you have to miss one session, you can make it up at a different location.
Thank you VERY much for the money programs you provide for us all. They continue to be exceptionally worthwhile and the best community service/education offering ever. You and your efforts are greatly appreciated.
